What you’ll learn?

After completing this module, learners should be able to:

•Define and employ patient centricity fundamentals.

•Identify how Medical Affairs professionals can practically apply patient centricity principles across the entire lifecycle of a product.

•Locate and use appropriate tools to support patient centric activities.

Course description

Are you involved in clinical development and wondering how to engage with patients to understand unmet needs to shape research priorities and clinical trial design?

Are you focussed on communicating clinical study results to patients in plain-language?

Do you need to work with patients or patient organizations on your HTA/value dossier regulatory submission or your real-world evidence plan?

Or perhaps you need to co-create content with patients for a patient support program such as an adherence strategy.

No matter what your role is in medical affairs, or what stage in the product lifecycle you are involved in, it is likely that you need to engage with patients and patient organizations.  This elearn provides practical guidance on how to engage with them throughout the lifecycle of a product, whether that is in discovery, clinical development, pre–launch/launch/post-launch & lifecycle management.    This covers the following topics:

  • How to find patients and/or patient organizations to partner with
  • Why you should consider patient engagement at different stages of the product lifecycle
  • Different approaches to engage with patients (surveys, focus groups/advisory boards, social media listening, co-development of content etc) and when they are appropriate
  • Practical tools you need to engage with patients, such as FMV calculator, sample legal agreements & collaboration prioritization tools
  • Criteria to consider to ensure engagement with patients is optimal.

Course format

This elearn has both audio and visual content to suit different learner’s needs, and at the beginning and the end of the course, as well as throughout the course there is interactive knowledge checks to assess your knowledge and engage with the learner.

We would appreciate your feedback on this course in the evaluation section – this is to ensure we can develop an advanced course that meet your needs, so please take the time to complete this.

At the end of the course you will have an opportunity to take an exam to test your competencies on this topic. Learners who score 80% or above will receive a certificate of completion which you may download as a PDF.
